Up at 5.30 AM for my first maiden run. It was quite a crowd when i got there at around 6.30AM. I saw RitchieR and Best Friend while i was walking on the field. There's a lot of tents for luggage counter, to face painting, food & drink stalls. Quite a family event.
The run was supposed to start at 7.30AM and after registation...by just giving our entry coupon, saw ChanC and he joined us. We were actually on the 1st line where the barrier at the starting point begin. ChanC was pointing out to me all the people that he knew being the veteran runner that he is. When Rais Yatim came at 7.40AM, a one minute speech was enough to get all the runners excited.
We were "shot" off at around 7.45 AM and the "front liners" seems to be doing their 100 Meter dash to ensure their leading position....errr except me. I still run really fast for the first 50M as i felt everyone was "rushing" to get an early lead but after about 200M from the starting point there were more space for everyone to run. It started from Dataran Merdeka, back of Bank Negara, Kenny Hill, Hockey Stadium, Highway close to Hartamas, pass thru Jalan Duta and Indian Embassy, Parliment, back to Lake Graden and Dataran Merdeka again.
Along the way, there were couple of water pit stop, supporters and medical facilitators. Being my first event, i thought it was really well organised. It felt really good after the 10KM run. It took me about 1hr 7min to complete it. ChanC was sweet enough to give some words of encouragent being my maiden run. RitchieR and Best Friend clocked in 1hr 3 min whilst ChanC clocked it 55min and got a nice medal with the rest setted for Cerificate of Paricipation. Jadi la....
Met up with ChanC's mum and dad. They are all runners in the family...really fast runner. BTW, the winner is from Kenya that completed 10KM in 27 min! I think it is because they used to run from Cheetah and Lion to get a milk form grocery shop or something.
It was really fun and i am really glad i did it. It is a start and hope there will be more to come.
