I got up at 4.15AM to prepare myself for my first 21KM run, Adidas King Of The Road. Together with RitchieRich and his MBF, we were driven to Sunway Pyramid. There were loads of people including ChanC, taking part for the event, from 5,7,10 to 21 KM run.
We were flagged of by Works Minister at about 6.45AM with about 8,000 participants this year. In the previous year, the events were for the 10KM, 7KM and 5KM categories only though. This is the first 21KM introduced for King Of The Road event. MBF and me run close to one another but RR went off leaving us at 4KM point. At 6KM, MBF left me behind as well. I only managed to outrun MBF at 9KM and RR at 11 KM.
I'm a bit surprised as this is the first time that i manged to outrun both of them. ChanC was of course way ahead of me. I was all drained out at 16KM point as there were not many water pit stop and they only provide 100 Plus not water! No water is just so wrong! With power gel (seriously, it does miracle) somehow i managed to run consistently and managed to clocked in 2hrs for my first 21KM run. RR clocked it 2hrs 15min while MBF completed in 2 hrs 5 min. Kenyan long distance runners dominated the event, clocked 1.00hr. Hehhehe...times that by 2...thats my time.
I'm actually happy with my time and finally, a first medal for me..it says Top Finishers!. Whoo Hooo...
